How to read and understand your bible pt. 2
Some more knowledge on how to read your Bible in an understanding way. We are told by Apostle Paul that we are called to grow in our knowledge of God so we can understand His plan and His purpose for all of His creation, that would include us believers and those that are still in unbelief. If someone asks you to explain Gods plan and purpose to them, could you? There are those Christians that have been attending church and bible study for years that can not, to their shame.
I will proceed to offer some information about Gods word that may help....First of all He tells us that He is a spiritual being......not covered with flesh like us.......therefore His word is spiritual and can only be understood by our spiritual man. That means that if you are not understanding His word it could be you are trying to approach it like you would any book...try praying first to prepare yourself. Gods intent by giving us His word was to make it understandable for all His people to come to know Him in a deeper way. He does not prefer one of us above another. I have had more Christians say to me that they have not been given a gift or calling from God even though the Word says different. Let me show you a calling that was given by God to all of us. Look at 2 Corinthians 5: 17-20. It is easy to see that first He has given us the ministry of reconciliation and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. We are to bring that word as His ambassadors to whom He sends us. If we are to believe this is our commission then we must let go of believing that we are part of the commission that Jesus gave to His disciples in the gospels while He was alive. Which brings up the fact that those four gospels were written for the Jews not for the Gentiles. Not accepting that fact will cause a lot of twisting of the scriptures to try and make them fit wrong teaching...see John 1: 11. All the gospels were written about fulfilled or fulfilling prophecy about the Messiah coming to the Jews. He did not come to save the Gentiles, but if the Jews had accepted Him, then they would have brought His salvation to the rest of the world, but they rejected Him and killed Him. God had that covered, too by the cross and blood of His only begotten Son. The Word says that God was in Jesus reconciling the world to Himself by the work of the cross. Jew and Gentile were to become one New Man.
